Imouzzer Ida Outanane : Culture and Nature - 8 days

PROGRAM

Day 1 :

Arrival at the airport and transfer to Tamraght (40 Kilometers)

A vehicle will awaits you at Almassira airport to take you directly to the rural lodging of Tamraght. On the road, you can observe the various cultures of the plain . You cross the village known  of "bananas" before arriving at Tamraght. The lodging offers a unspoilable view on "rock of the fertility". The legend tells that a particular ritual on this rock would make it possible to the women to have a child.
Once installed, you take part in a briefing where you will receive the detailed explanations of the program and you will discover the practical aspects of the daily life in Morocco (currency, telephone, health...).
If the arrival is not late, you will be able to benefit from the natural assets.

Day 2:
In the morning, from the Atlantic to the palm grove, via Tamraght, Ait Lahcen or Abderhmane. The trek represents 27 kilometers including 7 of hiking; that is to say, 3h30 of walk. Then, excursion by Ait Lahcen, Tamzargout and Tifrit in the afternoon. it is of 18 kilometers including 3 of hiking; that is, approximately 2h30 of walk.

After breakfast, you go in direction of the southern slope of the Western High-Atlas. The excursion begins on a path which leads to the village of Ait Lahcen. Throughout the way, you will observe the daily life of the rural populations which practice essentially agriculture, the breeding of bovines or bee-keeping. Once arrived,you can discover the cascade of two sources, one of salt water and the other of fresh water...
at 13:00, you will have lunch at Ait Lahcen and benefit from a little spare time. The excursion begins again at 15:00 with a descent in direction of the natural swimming pools of the cascade.
A bath is possible. You cross several Berber small villages of the valley such as Tagoudit n'Masine and Taghzout n'Tefardine. at the end-of-day, you will enjoy the sunset on the palm grove of Tamzergout.then you go toTifrit .

Day 3:
Natural excursion in the middle of the Paradise Valley . Trek  from Tifrit to Tifrit (650 meters height) via Taghzout n'Makhlouf, the Paradise Valley  and Tagharat Ankrim. That is to say 20 kilometers including 10 of hiking.

 8:30: After breakfast, you will go in the direction of Paradise valley via the villages of Alma and Tamzergoute. Once arrived at Taghzout n'Makhlouf, you begin the trek in the Paradise valley, you climb about 3 kilometers and a half till the djebel Igui Itazen. From there, you will have an extraordinary sight on all the Paradise Valley . You go down again the Valley. A bath or a nap are possible.t lunch is envisaged in the valley near the source Ain Bourtiwine,. You go up then towards the village of Tagharat Ankrim. It is the occasion to enjoy the famous tea of the region and discuss with the members of the
local association before visiting the village. You continue until Igui n'Targua, from which you
will have a panoramic sight on the village of Tagharat, the valley and the expressive relief of the mountain. You
continue until Tifrit where you join the hotel at 18:30. Before dinner, you will have a little time to relax.

Day 4:
Natural excursion in the valley of Tizgui. Course from Tifrit to Tizgui and Aksri. 8 kilometers of walk

 9:30: After breakfast, you leave for a one day excursion in the valley of Tizgui. The course begin with a descent towards the village of Ait Chelleh.Then, You follow a path that leads to the caves of Anzig n'wadou (literally the cave of the wind) and Anzig n'taïaline (the cave of the young girls). According to a legend, the latter would have magic powers and the young girls
would have a bath there so as to be happy. You arrive then at Igougue where a picnic awaits you. than you trek to the village of Tizgui where you will have a tea break. You go to Aksri. There, you will have you meal and sleep it  Ahmed's home, a berber old man with an astonoshing memory. Do not hesitate to talk with him: Ahmed knows all the strange but true stories of the region.. If you wish more comfort, you can sleep with the inn of  "the Good Franquette".

Day 5:
In the morning, rural life and natural heritage, at Aksri. In the afternoon,excursion by Aksri, Timkti, Targa and Tiskjii (with 620 m of height). That is to say 22 km including 10 km of tracks and 6 km of hiking.

You begin the day with a tasty Berber breakfast at 9:30 before starting the trek from Talmat. This village has the oldest pressof olive oil extraction in all the region of the Ida Outanane. You continue with the visit of the ruins of "Agadir", Berber collective attic, called Agadir Igher' gharene, which offers a great sight on Aksri. At 12:30, you will have lunch at Aksri.Then, you continue by a 4x4 until Targua via Timkti from which you will profit from a panoramic sight on the palm grove and the villages on the mountain. From Targua, after an excursion of 2 hours you will reach Tiskjii at 18:30.A visit of the village.

Day 6:
In the morning,excursion in the country of Tanani via Tiskjii, Tidili and Tamaroute with 5
kilometers of walk.In the afternoon,excursion of Tamaroute at Immouzzer center (at 1160 m of height),.That is to say, 3 kilometers of walk.

You leave for Tidili .From Talidi, you can see the  rocks on whom run cascades. You arrive then at the agricultural village of Tamaroute where you will have lunch. You join the cascades hotel after a trek of approximately two hours. There, you will choose the rest of the program: relaxation, swimming pool or a walk in the garden of the hotel along a source of water.

Day 7:
From the High-Atlas to the Atlantic. In the morning, course including Immouzzer (1160 meters height), Assif el Had (1300 m), and Aziar with 36 kilometers including 20 of tracks and 5 of hiking. In the afternoon, a travel connecting
Aziar, Tamri, Aghroud, Taghazout and Aourir with 120 Kilometers.

From Immouzzer, after 15 mns by a 4x4, you reach a track which passes by territory of the douars (Talmest) before arriving at Assif El Had. The village is located on the right side of Assif n'Ait Oualla, a flood on the plateau of Ida Outanane starting from the coast. You visit the caves with specialists who will tell you the legends which are attached to each one... You join the vehicles to go in Aziar. There, you will be accomodated by the rural association of the village. A lunch followed of a little
spare time is envisaged in Aziar. You carry on for Taba, Igui Taguast (at 600 m of height) and the dam of Moulay Abdallah. Further , begins the littoral road towards Tamri (the capital of banana trees)and Cape Ghir. you will appreciate the sight on the littoral road which skirts the beaches and cliffs bordering the ocean... You can relax on the sand for a moment and to appreciate the idyllic panorama.

Day 8:
Departure and transfer from Aourir to the Airport.

Transfer and assistance at the loading formalities.

Temperature :  15° to 25° Day &  06° to 15° at night.

It is about a Trek without notable technical difficulty. It is necessary to be in a good physical condition and to be able to walk for 5 to 6 hours each day, with a quiet rhythm. There is always a light back bag where you can take the minimum (gourd, food of race, camera...) All the luggage and food are transported by the mules. If a medical problem (distortion for example)is to happen, it is always possible to call upon a mule. However, it should be known that the ground is not flat, that it is necessary sometimes to go up to climb  a pass and that you will find certain stages a little long... In short, you will certainly have physical feelings;so, it is necessary to have the desire and the spirit of hiking and walking.
The itinerary indicated will be able to undergo modifications imposed by the mean level of the group, or by the climatic conditions.

A sleeping bag, a large bag for clothing, a small back bag for the day, walking shoes, crates, sandals for the bivouac, Kwe, polar, personal drugs, a gourd (1 litter or 2 litters), pastilles of water purification, sun lotion, a pair of sunglasses, cap, camera, a torch (frontal), spare batteries, toilet bag and other personal effects.
