M'Goun - The Roses Valley- 8 days

The Roses valley isthe starting point of this mountain trek. It is a tour that allows you to learn about many kinds of life styles in the Atlas valleys: pastoral life style, sedentary life style, traditions, architecture of its villages, Kasbahs and Ksours. This trip is runing along M'goun river and its fields, inhabitants and high Kasbahs. The natural landscaps are very famous : gorges of M'goun, mountains....

The Festival or Feast of Roses is organized every year in Kalaa M'gouna city at the begining of May.


1^st day: Arrival at Ouarzazate and Marrakech
       Arrival and assistance at the airport. Transfer and overnight night at the hotel.
2^nd day: Marrakech and Ouarzazate / Kalaa Mgouna
        Transfer to the Roses Valley, located at 90 km from Ouarzazate and Marrakech 290. Overnight  at a lodge by the inhabitants in the village of Ait Khiyar (1440 m).
3^rd day: Aît Khiyar / Hdida. (1530 m)
        From Aït Khiyar to Hdida, discovery of the lowest valley of M'goun and its berber villages. 4 to 5 hours walk. Overnight at the camp.
4^th day: Hdida / Boutaghrar (1600 m)
        Crossing many villages of the roses valley and its beautiful fields of many kinds of cultures. Walking in the water on the M'goun river. 4 hours walk. Camp.
5^th day: Boutaghrar / Almdoune (1700 m)
        By Elhotte valley and its beautiful villages, we will achieve the gorges of Agouty outside the gorges M'goun. bivouac on the riverside. 5 hours of walking. Camp.
6^th day: Almdoune / Aguerd Zegga
        Crossing a plateau and passing through the small village of Timettda. Ascent of the pass 1800 m and descent into Aguerd Zegga. 5 hours walk. Overnight in camp.
7^th day: Aguerd Zegga / Igherm Akdim
        Along Oued M'goun until Igherm Akdim village (3 hours walking). Lunch and transfer to Ouarzazate or Marrakech. overnight at the hotel.
8^th day: Transfer to the airport and departure.

It is about a mountain Trek without notable technical difficulty. It is necessary to be in a good physical condition and to be able to walk for 5 to 6 hours each day, with a quiet rhythm. There is always a light back bag where you can take the minimum (gourd, food of race, camera...) All the luggage and food are transported by the mules. If a medical problem (distortion for example)is to happen, it is always possible to call upon a mule. However, it should be known that the ground is not flat, that it is necessary sometimes to go up to climb a pass and that you will find certain stages a little long... In short, you will certainly have physical feelings;so,it is necessary to have the desire and the spirit of hiking and walking.
The itinerary indicated will be able to undergo modifications imposed by the mean level of the group, or by the climatic conditions.

A sleeping bag, a large bag for clothing, a small back bag for the day, walking shoes, crates, sandals for the bivouac, Kwe, polar, personal drugs, a gourd (1 litter or 2 litters), pastilles of water purification, sun lotion, a pair of sunglasses, cap, camera, a torch (frontal), spare batteries, toilet bag and other personal effects.
